Chapter 5

REASONS

“SHIT” That did not go the way that Jack had envisioned… at all. Matthew was supposed to melt at his feet and accept his collar like a good boy, not stare at him like a rabbit in the headlights and then bolt. Jack groaned as he bent down and picked up the gift box and note. He tossed them onto the coffee table and then ran his fingers through his hair in frustration. He’d played this all wrong and expected far too much from Matthew. Instead of compliance and submission, he’d elicited a fear response in his sub. He’d overstepped the boundaries and misjudged him.

Jack knew now that he should have revealed his own true identity when he discovered the man from Aiken Luxury Lettings, Matthew Fisher, was his online sub, Silken. Jack was unaware of the depth to which Matthew had immersed himself in online play. Matthew was so completely invested in the cyber fantasy persona that his immediate reaction to having Jack’s true identity thrust upon him was to trigger his flight reflex. It was fascinating; a little bit of fear could heighten the sex, but Jack never wanted to instill fear in his sub to the extent that he ran away. Jack loosened his red silk tie and dragged it from around his throat as he made his way to the master bedroom suite. He removed his jacket, unbuttoned his shirt, sweaty from the long flight, and then stepped out of his shoes, pulled off his socks and dropped his trousers. Naked, his tan lines were evident, as if he were wearing pale shorts, and his white muscled ass was stark against the golden skin above his hips and on his legs. Jack just didn’t have the energy to even be tidy. The clothing was gathered up and tossed unthinkingly onto a side chair. He sat naked on the bed and held his head in his hands and considered the consequences of what he had just done. The cold dread of understanding was like nails running down his spine. It was supposed to have been a romantic surprise. Oh, God. This was so messed up. Jack did not just want a sub, he wanted Matthew, body, and soul and he’d fucked everything up. Jack couldn’t let this lie. He’d just traveled a grueling five-and-a-half-thousand miles to satisfy his need for the man. He reached for his iphone on the nightstand and typed a message to Matthew.
